Hi, I’m Amber!
I am a thirty-something food blogger based in Dallas, TX! I’m a wife, a mom to a rambunctious toddler, a professional dishwasher, and the voice behind A Toasted Crumb.
Cooking has been my passion for over 15 years, and my love for it only deepened in my early twenties when I had to stretch a tight budget and get creative with simple ingredients. I taught myself how to make sauces, master seasonings, and attempted quite often to bake from scratch (I’ve gotten much better with practice!). This journey helped me find a deep connection with food and a love for cooking for others.
In July 2020, amid the challenges of the pandemic, I took the plunge with much encouragement from my loving husband (Mr. Fiancé at the time) and launched A Toasted Crumb. What started as a way to share my recipes with others during lockdown quickly grew into a place where I could combine my passion for cooking, my joy in teaching others, and my desire to connect.
The blog has followed me through some of life’s biggest milestones—getting married, buying our first home, and even navigating the ups and downs of pregnancy. When I learned that my son might face serious health challenges, I had to take a step back from blogging to focus on my family. Now that we’ve found our rhythm, I’m overjoyed to finally be returning to A Toasted Crumb, ready to dive back into creating recipes and content.
Here on A Toasted Crumb, I share delicious family recipes, simple step-by-step cooking tutorials, and a dash of lifestyle content. Whether you’re a busy parent, a mom trying to get her groove back, or simply someone who loves great food, I’m here to help you turn everyday ingredients into memorable meals and embrace a vibrant, balanced life.
I’m so happy you’re on this journey with me—it’s going to be so much fun! Let’s learn, cook, and grow together.
Let’s Get to Know Each Other!
I realize you may be new here, and currently we’re strangers. We’ll change that.
One of my main motivations for creating A Toasted Crumb was to build a supportive community for new food bloggers, aspiring home chefs, and entertainers seeking fresh inspiration. So I encourage you to comment, share, and communicate with the #ATCFoodie Community!

Along with all the recipes, I also use the blog to share glimpses of life beyond the kitchen:
- Home Life and Family Moments: Occasionally, I’ll share fun memories and behind-the-scenes glimpses of life with my husband John, our energetic son Nolan, and our beloved fur-son Taco, capturing the little moments that bring our family joy and laughter.
- Entertaining Tips: I love sharing my favorite tips for hosting gatherings that leave a lasting impression. From easy recipes to fun decorating ideas, I’ll help you create moments that your guests will remember.
- Hot Spots & Travel: Based in Dallas, I’ll guide you to the best local spots for family outings, romantic date nights, and toddler-friendly adventures. I’ll also share occasional travel tips and favorite destinations when I do get the chance to explore.
- Motherhood: I love sharing the journey of raising my son Nolan, born in 2022. Despite facing some health complications early on, he’s now thriving and embracing life with joy, and I enjoy documenting our experiences and milestones along the way. I hope to create some awareness for CHD and communicate what life can look like after a prenatal diagnosis.
- Gardening: As a novice gardener and house plant enthusiast, I’m excited to share my journey of cultivating my green thumb. I’m currently planning a vegetable and edible cut flower garden for my backyard next year, and I’ll be documenting the process and sharing tips along the way.
