Thank you so much for stopping by.

I’m Amber. I am the owner, author, and content creator for A Toasted Crumb | a blog about food.

This blog has been a dream of mine for what seems like a hundred years. It wasn’t until the middle of 2020 (in the midst of a global pandemic) that I had enough courage to “just go for it” and start up a cooking blog. With the encouragement of my loving husband, I finally had enough drive to start working on a plan to come up with a brand, an overall plan for content creation, and some social media presence. I jumped in that summer and have never looked back.

Cooking and sharing my love of great food, good ingredients, and wonderful restaurants is a passion of mine. I try to live my life easy, enjoy every day. With that comes the desire to explore, try out new things, and teach myself how to better evolve into a well-rounded individual. Sharing that with others is fun. I hope through my journey of transparency through the good and the bad, you’ll join me in that effort. Learn with me and teach yourself to indulge in great ingredients. It’s worth it, I promise.

As for a more personal note, I live in a sleepy suburb right outside of Dallas, Texas with my husband John and our 7 year old chihuahua-pom mix, Taco. They are my entire world, and creating a wonderful life with them and daydreaming about our future is a past time of mine.

In my 29 years I’ve seen a lot. If I’ve learned anything in my lifetime, it is to show those that you hold close just how much you love them and how beautiful life can be.

Try things ‘just because’, hit up a trendy spot to see what all the buzz is about, share your experiences with others so they can do the same. And along the way, make it a constant effort to try awesome food.

My love of cooking stemmed from the need to fuel my body with clean ingredients that were low cost. Living on my own in my early twenties was a financial challenge. Teaching myself to buy groceries at their most basic level and figuring out what to do with them to make them better taught me a lot about cooking. I learned to make sauces and roux, season proteins with regular spices and herbs instead of pricey preservative filled spice blends and pre-made mixes. I learned to attempt baking, and understand that I’m one that needs quite a bit of practice. And that’s okay.

Throughout all of this I learned that cooking is what truly makes me happy. It’s my therapy. No matter what was going on in my life, I’d find myself in the kitchen working on a four hour soup, or trying to perfectly sear a chicken breast. It was just my way of being in my own zone and tuning everything else out.

Since then, it’s been my passion to share that love with everyone I come into contact with and teach them how they too, can relieve stress and find immense enjoyment in experimenting in the kitchen.

I can’t wait to create a relationship with you and take you along on this journey and many more. Let’s learn about life, love, and great food together! Thanks for being here.
