Anytime I can get a gorgeous filet of fish made in the air fryer in under 15 minutes is a win for me! Make this recipe for an easy weeknight dinner or a quick working lunch!

Ingredients:
- Trout: Steelhead trout fillets, 4 - 6 oz each.
- Oil: A small bit of olive oil in the butter mixture will help give the fish a nice golden, crispy crust!
- Butter: Yes, oil and butter. Just about 1 tbsp. The butter will sink all the way through the fish giving it a delicious taste!
- Lemon: A large lemon, the more lemon flavor in this the better! And maybe save a few slices for garnish!
- Seasonings: I like to keep it simple here. Garlic powder and black pepper. (If you're using salted butter, you won't need salt. If you're using unsalted, you'll want about ¼ teaspoon of salt.)
- Fresh herbs: I prefer parsley with trout. Dill would be great as well!

Steps to Prepare:
STEP 1: Pat the fish dry.
Pat the fillets of trout with paper towels until they are almost completely dry.
STEP 2: Make the lemon butter sauce.
Combine 1 tablespoon butter, 1 teaspoon olive oil, ¼ teaspoon garlic powder, ⅛ teaspoon black pepper in a small bowl. Melt butter in the microwave in 30 second intervals. (If you're using salted butter, you won't need salt. If you're using unsalted butter, you'll want to add ¼ teaspoon of salt to this mixture.)
Squeeze the juice of 1 large lemon straight into the butter mixture and stir.

STEP 3: Brush onto the fish.
Lightly brush the sauce onto each fillet, on the top and sides.

STEP 4: Air fry the trout.
Place a piece of parchment paper down into the air fryer basket. Place the trout skin side down onto the parchment.
Air fry at 400° for 8 - 10 minutes, or until it registers at 145° internal temp.

STEP 5: Garnish and enjoy.
Garnish with a fresh lemon wedge and fresh herbs. I like parsley with mine!

FAQ's:
Cooked trout can be kept in the fridge, in an air tight container, for 3 - 4 days.
To reheat, place the trout on a piece of parchment paper in the air fryer and fry for 3 - 5 minutes at 340° until golden and flaky.
Yes! Trout and salmon have a very similar flavor profile and nutrient mix! Trout is a bit fattier than salmon, and in my opinion tastes a bit more mild than salmon, making it a great option for sauces and seasonings!
I enjoy crispy potatoes, a simple salad, or grilled zucchini when we have trout!
