I promise you, green smoothies and juices aren’t that bad!
They get such a bad wrap all the time, when in reality you’ve just got to know how to make them to make them taste good.
If all of the things you add to your green smoothie are green (at least for the most part), and your green smoothies are turning out grey (which actually is a common complaint), you’re doing something wrong!
This green smoothie is a mango flavored smoothie, composed of mostly spinach and mango. Just a bunch of whole ingredients to make up a sweet, nutrient packed smoothie!
Check out the smoothie snapshot!
For this smoothie you’ll need:
- fresh spinach
- frozen kale
- frozen mango pieces
- plain Greek yogurt
- almond milk
There really aren’t many ingredients in this smoothie! It’s all about the greens! If you’re working out, this is a great smoothie to add a pre-workout to! Another great option, a scoop of Collagen powder!
What makes a green smoothie so healthy?
Green smoothies are based with dark leafy greens like kale and spinach which are incredibly nutrient dense! They actually contain 8 of the 14 essential vitamins!
Probably the well known vitamins that you’ll find in dark leafy greens are Vitamins A and K. Vitamin A helps with bone growth, immunity, and cellular function. Vitamin K can prevent osteoporosis and act as a natural anti-inflammatory.
Easy Ways to Sweeten Green Smoothies:
The easiest ways to sweeten green smoothies, if you just can’t take the taste of the leafy greens, if to utilize a super sweet fruit like mango, apple, or pineapple. These fruits are often sweet enough on their own to be pureed down into pressed juices, making them a stellar ingredient to ad to your green smoothie. They cut the taste of the kale in the smoothie, which helps a lot of people get over the fact that they’re drinking something they’d usually add into a salad.
Pro-tip! – If you really are worried about trying a green smoothie for the first time, have someone else make it for you! Close your eyes and just try it! (I don’t have any kids, but I’d bet this would work on them too! Play mind games for your health people!)
Smoothies are easy to make! Just combine the ingredients listed above in your blender and blend away! Take a look at the recipe card for the exact measurements!
I like to take a casual approach with smoothies, everybody has their own way.
