JUMP TO RECIPE

Rich chocolate, cherries, spinach, walnuts and banana make for a delicious pick me up snack in this Chocolate Cherry Spinach Smoothie! Packed with antioxidants and nutrients, this smoothie is sure to help you stay satiated and feel great throughout your busy day!

I love to try new smoothie flavors! Little personal fact about me - I used to work for a nutrition clinic and me and a sweet friend of mine wrote custom smoothie menus every week for our guests! Each day we'd make a fun, seasonal smoothie featuring our supplements with fresh fruit. It was something I absolutely loved about that job, and still hold close to my heart today. This Chocolate Cherry Smoothie hit the spot the other day while I was working. Let's make it!

What ingredients are needed for preparing a Chocolate Cherry Spinach Smoothie?

  • 1 cup Frozen Cherries
  • 1 cup Fresh Spinach
  • 1 tablespoon Cocoa Powder
  • ½ Banana
  • ¼ cup Walnuts
  • 1 teaspoon Maple Syrup
  • ½ cup Coconut Milk
  • ¼ cup Greek Yogurt

Is there any equipment necessary for preparing the Chocolate Cherry Spinach Smoothie?

A great blender! I love this one from Ninja!

Steps to Prepare:

Add all listed ingredients to a blender and blend away!

Pour into your favorite glass and enjoy.

Storage:

Smoothies are never great stored for extended periods of time. You can store it and keep it in a sealed container in the fridge for up to 4 hours if desired.

FAQs:

Can I use fresh cherries?

Yes! Just make sure they are pitted!

Can I use frozen spinach?

I like fresh spinach instead of frozen for smoothies. I feel it creates a better texture than frozen. You get ice crystals and kind of a gritty affect with frozen, in my opinion.

Can I make this ahead of time?

Certainly! Create a little smoothie prep bag by adding the cherries, spinach, sliced bananas, and walnuts to a small sandwich bag. Then combine the yogurt, coconut milk, cocoa powder, and maple syrup in a condiment container and refrigerate. When you're ready for a smoothie, just add the frozen ingredients to a blender and scoop out the frozen milk mixture into the blender. (This will give your smoothie and extra chill too!) - Make sure to mix the milk and cocoa powder well so it doesn't clump up.)
