Escape to the islands with this light and refreshing Island Margarita!
I like my margaritas fresh and limey, so this was right up my alley! I would compare this to a skinny margarita. Skinnys are made with fresh lime juice in lieu of sweet an sour, so the taste is super refreshing! I could probably drink 3 or 4 of these, but I have a feeling I wouldn’t like myself the next day, so we’ll hold off on that!
Make this drink for one of your last summer shindigs this season. Better yet, just grab the Late Summer Luau Guide to get started on the planning! It’ll pretty much do it all for you! Menu plan, decor and tableware, shopping list, you name it!
Pregame with this drink, then make a big batch of it for you crew when they arrive!
To make this beauty, you’ll need:
- 2 oz Silver Tequila
- 1 oz Triple Sec
- 1 oz Cranberry Juice
- 1.5 oz Pineapple Juice
- Juice of Half of a Lime
- 1 oz Coconut Water
- .5 oz Honey Water (Dilute honey with about a tsp or two of water. You can also use agave if you don’t prefer to dilute the honey, the flavor just isn’t quite as sweet.)
- 1/2 Cup Crushed Ice
This drink is incredibly easy to make!
Crush the ice in a blender rather than using cubes. I used some gorgeous coupe glasses that I recently came across to serve these drinks, so the crushed ice helped keep the margarita from spilling all over the place. Can’t have that now girl!
While, I love the way this delicate cocktail looks in these coupe glasses, you could just as easily put this in a highball, lowball, margarita glass, you name it! I like the crushed ice because it looks beautiful in these glasses and gently melts as you drink the beverage. Hello built in hydration! But all of these things are optional. Let’s not make it complicated now!
Shake this drink in a cocktail shaker (filled half way with regular ice) and strain is over the crushed ice.
Garnish the margarita with a lime wheel and enjoy!
If you’re serving a crowd, you can also easily convert this drink to fill a pitcher! For this, I’d recommend the use of an Italian Ice machine or margarita machine for the ice. Let guests grab their own ice and place the pitcher of margarita in an ice bucket or cooler so they can help themselves.
We’re all about casual dinner parties over here!
This cocktail is the perfect choice for your next sunset dinner party!
If you’re a coconut person, I’d also recommend checking out my regular Coconut Margarita recipe! It’s a creamier margarita, based with coconut milk instead of coconut water. Really tasty and indulgent!
