This delicious Panera Copycat Turkey Apple Cheddar Sandwich on crusty sourdough bread is the perfect afternoon delight! Honey roasted turkey, smoked white cheddar cheese, crisp apple and spinach, and a zesty spicy honey mustard sauce all come together to make this crave-worthy sandwich.

I've probably made this sandwich 5 times in the past week, and I am not ashamed one bit! The flavors and textures in this sweet little sandwich are next level! Let's make it!

Ingredients:
- Turkey: I love Honey Oven Roasted Turkey for this sandwich.
- Cheese: Smoked White Cheddar, I love this brand!
- Apple: Honeycrisp or Cosmic Crisp apples are my favorite for sandwiches and salads!
- Spinach: Fresh spinach adds some healthy greens and kicks up the flavor here!
- Honey Mustard Spread: Mayo, whole grain mustard, and honey make the most delicious spread for this sandwich!
- Bread: Homemade, crusty sourdough is a winner in this recipe! I don't feel I've mastered sourdough quite yet to be as bold to publish it on my blog, but I adore this recipe for beginner sourdough bakers! If you don't make your own sourdough, you can easily find a great crusty loaf in the bakery section at your local grocery store.

Steps to Prepare the Best Turkey Apple Cheddar Sandwich:
STEP 1: Prepare the Honey Mustard Spread
To prepare one sandwich, combine 1 tablespoon mayo with 2 teaspoon whole grain mustard, and 1 teaspoon of honey. Set aside.

STEP 2: Toast the Bread
Slice off two pieces of sourdough bread and toast slightly. Spread the Honey Mustard Spread onto each piece of bread.
STEP 3: Build the Sandwich
Layer white cheddar cheese, turkey, apple slices, and spinach onto the sandwich and press the other piece of bread on top.

FAQ's:
If you've prepared a larger portion of the honey mustard spread, it will keep in the fridge for up to 5 days. Just give it a stir anytime you want to use it.
If you're storing a built sandwich, you should enjoy it within 2 days.
Mayo can be substituted for the honey mustard spread if you aren't much for mustard. But I'd highly encourage you give it a shot! 😉
Asiago cheese bread is also a great option for this sandwich, bread wise.
To substitute the cheese, if white cheddar isn't you're thing, I'd recommend medium (orange) cheddar or colby jack!
Again, I am 100% not qualified (yet!) to answer this question. I've learned my sourdough skills from great blogs like AmyBakesBread, Farmhouse on Boone, and Alexandra's Kitchen!
It's starts with a strong starter (mine took 6 weeks to make!), great unbleached flour (I LOVE this brand!), salt, and a little patience. Okay, maybe a lot.
But in my humble opinion, if you have any amount of spare time on your hands, I'd highly recommend giving baking sourdough bread a shot! It's so rewarding, grounding, and there's just no replicating the taste of a fresh loaf of sourdough from your home kitchen!
