Ginger Snap Santa Hats

JUMP TO RECIPE

These sweet little Ginger Snap Santa Hats take 30 seconds to make and are so cute out on your Christmas dessert table! This is a super simple snack comprised of a store-bought ginger snap cookie, store-bought or homemade vanilla whipped cream, and fresh strawberries!

What ingredients are needed to make Ginger Snap Santa Hats?

  • Fresh Strawberries
  • Store-bought (or homemade) Ginger Snap Cookies
  • Store-bought (or better yet, homemade - see recipe below) Whipped Cream!

How to make Homemade Whipped Cream?

Whipped cream is so much simpler than most make it out to be! The secret is in chilling the heavy whipping cream AND your mixer attachments!

Here's a simple recipe for preparing your own Homemade Whipped Cream! Once you make it once, you'll never go back!

(Refer to recipe card for measurements.)

  1. Start with chilling your heavy cream, a metal bowl, and a whisk attachment to either your stand mixer or electric hand mixer in the freezer for at least 15 minutes. (30 minutes is better, if you've got the time!)
  2. Pour the heavy whipping cream directly into the chilled metal bowl along with the powdered sugar and vanilla extract and start the mixer on it's lowest setting. Increase the speed on your mixer gradually to high speed and continue to whip the cream until soft peaks form.
  3. Place into a piping bag for immediate use or into an airtight container for use within 24 hours.
  4. I don't recommend freezing homemade whipped cream if you can help it, it will change texture slightly.

Is there any equipment necessary to assemble the Santa Hat Ginger Snaps?

If you are preparing Homemade Whipped Cream, you'll need:

  • A Stand Mixer with a Metal Bowl or Electric Hand Mixer and an additional Metal Bowl
  • Then I recommend a Piping Bag, Tip, and Coupler to pipe the whipped cream.
  • These adorable sprinkles would be so cute as well! And this festive platter would be perfect for your table!

To assemble the Santa Hat Ginger Snaps:

  1. Place a ginger snap cookie down.
  2. Pipe a dollop of whipped cream on top of the cookie.
  3. Remove the tops from the fresh strawberries, place on top of the whipped cream.
  4. Add a miniature dollop of whipped cream to the top of your strawberry for the top of the hat!
  5. And if you want to get really fancy, dust them with a bit of sanding sugar or sprinkles!

Easy peasy!

Prep and Storage:

If you're bringing these to a party, place them into miniature cupcake liners and drop them into a cupcake pan! That should give you enough room to tent them with aluminum foil without ruining them!

I don't recommend storing them as the whipped cream may soften the ginger snap cookies.
