"Hi, I'm Emily from the food blog Meat Me In STL. This Midwest blog goes far beyond ranch seasoning and corn fields. I love to create tasty food with big bold flavors. By day I'm a hospital epidemiologist keeping track of infectious diseases. By night I wind down by making something quick yet delicious in the kitchen. When I'm not cooking I'm either exploring St. Louis with my husband and our dogs, or fixing something broken in our 100 year old fixer upper."

-Emily, MeatMeinSTL.com

I asked Emily if she’d be willing to submit a recipe for this month’s Crumb Connections feature; she agreed and sent over her recipe for her Grandma Bonnie's Famous No Sugar Added Cranberry Sauce! Just in time for Thanksgiving! Thanks Emily!

A few important notes from Emily:

  • Emily recommends using canned whole cranberries in this recipe, for texture and visual appeal. I agree! Team whole cranberry over here!
  • Canned crushed pineapple is a must! This way you get pineapple in every bite! (I LOVE that there is pineapple in this version of cranberry sauce! How fun!)
  • She recommends sugar-free jello (this is a no sugar added recipe after all). But Emily suggested substituting an extra dinner roll in place of all that sugar you'd be getting form regular jello, ummm - I'd have to whole heartedly agree on that! She says cherry, black cherry, and strawberry flavors work best in this recipe.

For Emily's recipe, you’ll need the following ingredients:

  • Fruits: cranberries, grapes, crushed pineapple
  • Sweeteners: sugar substitute, sugar free jello, water
  • Nuts: pecans (yum!)

To make Grandma Bonnie's Famous No Sugar Added Cranberry Sauce, Emily recommends the following equipment:

  • a saucepan
  • a container with a lid

I know Emily as a person, and never knew she was a great cook until she started posting pictures of some of her creations. If her cooking is anywhere near as sweet and priceless as she is, I guarantee it’s beyond excellent. Love her! ❤️
