Everything I Purchased for My Dream Garden in My Little Backyard

Published: Mar 20, 2025 Modified: Mar 20, 2025 ·by Amber Bogardus / This post may contain affiliate links.

This spring, I built a miniature garden oasis in my little backyard to grow over 25 vegetables, plants, and herbs! I installed a temporary deck outfitted with a table and chairs and all sorts of potted plants and flowers to sit and enjoy the fruits of my labor!

A backyard garden features raised beds with young plants and trellises, a storage shed, and a small patio area with seating and a table. The house exterior is brick, and there is a wooden fence surrounding the yard.

Here's everything I purchased to build and decorate this space!

Temporary Patio Deck with Click Together Deck Tiles

Cozy patio with two black metal chairs and a small table featuring a lit candle. Surrounded by potted plants, the area is decorated with wooden tiles and gravel, set against a brick wall.

Supplies:

  • Weed Paper
  • Landscaping Staples
  • Paver Sand
  • Click Together Deck Tiles
  • No Dig Landscaping Border with Spikes
  • Rubber Mallet
  • River Rock
  • 2 12x12 pavers (I just purchased plain cement pavers from my local Lowe's. They were about $2.00 each.)
  • Furniture and Decor: Patio Table and Chairs, Seat Cushions, Herb Garden Raised Planter, Plant Stands

Raised Garden Beds and Trellises

A backyard features two raised metal garden beds topped with trellises and filled with soil, ready for planting. A red toy wagon is propped vertically against a fence. A wooden fence and storage shed are visible in the background.

Supplies:

  • `1 4 x 8 ft Vevor Raised Garden Beds (I got mine on TikTok Shop, but here's one just like it on Amazon!)
  • 2 4 x 2 ft Metal Raised Garden Beds
  • 1 Garden Arch Trellis
  • 3 Tomato Cages

DIY Strawberry Tower

Supplies:

  • 5-6 ft 1.5 inch PVC Pipe
  • 9 3 section planters from the Dollar Store
  • 1 pot (similar base size to the 3 section planters) from the Dollar Store
  • Drill
  • 2 inch hole saw drill bit
  • Rubber mallet
  • 15 Strawberry plants (bare root) - I got 2 varieties, regular and pink flamingo strawberries!
  • 6 Strawberry Plants
  • 6 Garlic Cloves
  • Soil and Compost

This was such a fun project to plan and execute over these past few months, and I know I've got some fellow gardeners in my ATC family so I wanted to be sure to share my findings with you! Happy building!

I hope you went shopping and feel ready to get started planning your own garden escape in your backyard! If you were inspired, leave a comment (that is so helpful for my site!) or snap a photo of your garden oasis and tag me on Instagram (@atoastedcrumb)! I love to make new gardening friends!
